Week 01 - *Introduction*

Hello any and everyone who's reading! Currently, I am finishing my last semester at Texas Tech University, and the main reason I wanted to take this class is to obtain the Game Design & Culture Certificate. Creative Media Industries is one of my concentrations, so after taking many classes that apply to the certificate, I figured I would use my remaining elective hours to complete it by taking this class. If this class is as good as Professor Schweizer's Game Development class, then I'm looking forward to the exciting and creative work we'll all be doing!

What I'm looking forward to learning in this course is mainly how to make a game that people will enjoy! I want to be able to have the answers to questions like: What makes a game fun? What kinds of rules give the player a feeling of freedom to decide and choose, without restraint of realistic options? What makes a game interesting and keeps the player intrigued?

I play a ton of games! I'm currently on the TTU Overwatch team, but I also enjoy a lot of survival video games like Valheim, Fallout, etc. I also enjoy any poker card games, Nertz, and I loved Monopoly as a kid.

I can't wait to see what we learn about and start working with everyone!
